A compact handlebar would that mean I could reduce the number of spacers under the stem. Thanks in advance

    Depends on how the bars/stem/spacers were set up? If the spacer height was determined by your hand position on the drops, then yes. However, if it was in terms of your hand position on the tops or hoods, then probably not. Compact bars also tend to run a little shorter i.e. the levers will be a little closer.
    Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
