Just bought a frame and going to build up something a little harder hitting than the Rock Lobster.



I am wanting some ideas on things like seat post, stem, handle bars etc etc that are both light weight but strong enough to be in the "All Mountain" bracket.

Others parts should include Mavic EX521 on Hope 2 Evo Hubs, Fox 36 Talas or Rock Shox Lyrik, Avid Elixir 5 to give you an idea of spec I am looking at.

My pal at ATR Cycles (Facebook) is putting it together for me and doing the wheel build.

I haven't been able to find a Reverb with a 34.9mm seatpost so will perhaps look for shims?

Why do you like the Rock Shox Lyrik Mission Control DH over the Fox 36 Talas just out of interest?

Get a shim from superstar. The one I had for the edison was great, they're cheap as a cheap thing too.

Thanks I will certainly look into one of those shims. 34.9 down to 31.6 I think. :P

Also looking like the SLX Double and bash is what I am after. 8)

TBF I havent used the Lyriks, but I have used Fox and RS up front and I prefer RS, plus Talas isnt needed on a bike like this IMO

It is looking like Rock Shox Lyrik RC2DH Solo Air Forks then as I can get 2011 for a good discounted price.

Just been looking at the Race Face Response and Evolve range so am thinking of stem, bars and double ring & bash crankset.

Avid 5 brakes and Shram 9 shifting.

All sounds good so far, not sure about the brakes, shimano slx won a recent best 10 in one if the mags, with hope m4 evo coming third can't think which was second!

Wheels defo go bolt through axles if you can.

I had a look at the SLX, XT and XTR brakes and there is no difference at all from what I can see. I am sure your just paying more for the name!

I guess there is nothing stopping me going Shimano XT gearing and brakes. I am a bit funny about mixing manufacturers. lol

ive been using this stem for the last few months. Super stiff and pretty cheap. I bought from this retailer and it appeared in under a week.

I am a little confused as to what headset I can get for the frame. There is already 2 parts pressed into the frame and I am not sure what else I need to complete it?

I've just changed over my IDS dropouts to the 12mm through axle IDS versions on my Ransom and totally recommend it!
Bought them from Westbrook Cycles too!

Sram X0 stuff was my choice also...

Wheels are done!

I let my friend at ATR cycles pimp the wheels as advertisment. Snowflake front looks cool. I was unsure to the strength but he has been testing one built like that for some months now with really loose spokes and giving it some real abuse and hasn't had a problem with the twisted spokes. I will see how it goes:

Pretty sure I am going with a KS Supernatural 6" seatpost and Sram X9 running gear and Elixir 9 Carbon brakes. Fancy trying it to compare to the XT I have on the Lobster.

Should I stick with Sram stuff with the crankset, bars and stem too? I quite fancy the 2x10 and bash setup on the sram website:

And then using the AKA stem and Stylo T40 bars to finish it off.

i myself am a shimano fan but some prefer sram. honestly i wouldn't get elixir brakes. the new shimano xtr and xt are far superior in every way. but that's just my opinion
