brake pad changing - quick easy question

With shimano pads, is it easier to swap the whole pad and 'holder' or just to replace the pads?

Just got some nice new carbon wheels and want to be able to swap quickly as dont want to run the same pads on both carbon and alloy wheelsets.

    Dead easy and quick to swap the pads only. No need to change the holders unless you have to. It is no easier or harder to do either ime.
