I've just ordered some 38mm deep section rims, they're not here yet but was wondering what length of valves you guys run or indeed if you used valve extenders?

My first thought would be to run a 52mm valve with no extender but i'm unsure if this will be long enough for the track pump, your thoughts greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance :)

    American Classic 420's?

Yes, go for the tubes with the long valve. Vittoria 51mm, for example. I have wheels with the same rim depth and tubes with 50mm+ valves are more than adequate - no need for extenders IME.

Worth getting some extenders still, just to slip in the saddle bag. If you get unlucky and have more puntures than you have tubes with you, you stand a chance of being able to use a ride buddie's spare tube, even if that is too short. Beware though, valve extenders vary. I bought some Conti ones, which don't fit Spesh tubes, which don't have a removable core.
