13-26 cassette
Triple chainset
I have a Veloce rear derailler, should I go for long or medium models? I cannot find veloce in long cage, only Xenon. If I want to keep groupset identical.

Just checked center to center on my RD, 90mm.

If in doubt consult the bible , i.e Sheldon Brown.
I can only remember shimano (So no fecking use to you whatsoever) basically they can handle a 29 t differential until you need a medium, or long cage mech,
so 26-13 = 13 take it the triple is a 53-30 = 22 so your looking at 35 t difference and possibly a medium cage rear mech cant think of a campag long in veloce.
CRC have the veloce at £65
SJS (St John Street Cycles seem to be the specialist at campag triple stuff or even Mercian in Derby)0 -
Chainset is 30-42-52Say... That's a nice bike..

Yer sorry meant 52 not 53 , still 22 difference in front rings plus 13 difference in casette = 35 t difference
additionally the CRC mech at £65 is more expensive than Ribble so all round not much use to you.
Would still recommend SJS they have a big stock of Campag (10 speed I take it ) and specialise in touring set ups so should have a lot of Triple compatable mechs.0 -
It's a 9 speed setup, just that derailler is getting on a bit. Also shifters need looked at but that means taking them off, need the bike back on the road quickly, also new shifters come with cables (which are expensive anyway) but I guess using 10 speed shifters with 9 speed cassette isn't possible? If the cassette needed replacing I could upgrade to 10 speed.
Either way with ribble campag sale may stock up on chain/cassette.Say... That's a nice bike..

Okay, apologies this is the problem with Forums Friday nights and Red Wine.
I m confusing my SJS with my Geoffery Butler, Their adds look the bloody same in cycling plus, but Geoffery Butler are the ones with the older Campag stock,
Check this,

If you want a 9 speed medium cage mech (you'll need that for that chain wrap), then look at a Campag Champ (that was the 9 speed rear mech when Campag replaced the triple versions of the normal groupsets with Champ (9), Comp (10) and Race (10).
You can get them on ebay or a few still knocking about is shops.
Alternatively, search on ebay for:
(campag, campagnolo) (medium, long) cage
with' description' included in the search and there are some Xenon and Mirage medium cage 9 speed rear mechs that should work (an old medium cage will take a capacity of 36 and yours is 35).0 -

That'll be a 10 speed - so not if you're keeping the 9 speed stuff.
Some older stuff here:

I may upgrade to 10 speed as shifters are a bit worn. But will 10 speed derailler with 10 speed shifters work on 9 speed cassette? I don't mind losing a gear on cassette (until I change to 10 speed cassette) or will it be clicking on certain gear combinations?Say... That's a nice bike..

I thought that you'd have to upgrade the lot - but just googled that a 10 speed mech would work with everything else 9 speed.
The 2011 and 2012 models have the new logo:

But othe older logo mechs might be cheaper if you can find one.0 -
Bit worried about the description though. Also sold out on long cage (9 speed version) :-(

I suppose if I change from 26 to 23 cassette on the next one, then medium will be fine? Since I have a triple don't use medium chainring/large cassette sprocket often. Next time I'm on a ride see how I copy with using 23 sprocket.Say... That's a nice bike..

You wont need long cage - with your setup, medium cage will work perfectly.
In about 2007, Campag introduced the Ultra Narrow 10 speed chain (to match Shimano) so I guess the cage could be a bit narrower or the jockey wheels could be thinner (you could always swap out your old jockey wheels if this turns out to be an issue).
if you look at that link in my previous post, you'll see that it says the Veloce one is 9 and 10 speed compatible, so I'd GUESS that it's the same for the Xenon (which was their bottom of the range mech and two levels below Veloce). It might be worth looking for Mirage too as that was between Veloce and Xenon).
Of course, you could get a ten speed chain (KMC go good ones - X10.93) but then you run the risk of the sides of the front mech being too wide and not shifting as sweetly.
If you're looking at ebay, keep an eye out for nearly new Veloce and Centaur mechs that don't necessarily say medium cage. Lat year, I bought an immaculate 9 speed Centaur medium cage one for £25 after getting the seller to measure the distance between the jockey wheel axles to confirm the size.
This one will cost about £12 to ship from the US:

This one says short cage, but it's not - compare the distance between the jockey wheels to photos of other mechs:

may just buy a new bike lol, it will cost nearly as much!Say... That's a nice bike..

They have the Xenon in Medium at 9 speed:
"Medium (258g) for double chainset and sprocket set up to 13-28 or for triple chainset and sprocket set up to 13-26 "

Personally, I'd wait as see what that Centaur on ebay goes for in a week.0
