Hi,
Just been looking at these on ebay Merek Road Carbon Integrated Handlebar & Stem 42 x 100. They are priced up at £165.31 from a guy working out of Taiwan on ebay. He has loads of carbon bits for sale his ebay id is ebike.ltd
Now I am assuming that these are copies, but has anyone on here bought carbon bars that are copies from China and if so are they actually any good! They look smart enough

Any views would help?

Got some carbon bottle cages from China once. They disintergrated after coming into contact with sports drink over a period of a few months. Handle bars should be fine though, shouldn't they? What's the worst that can happen?0

Glad it isn't just me that got crap Chinese bottle cages. Mine haven't disintegrated; they are just weakly lacquered, badly shaped and the heel lip is weak. And they scratch the bottles badly!
As for the bars - what's the point, looks aside? They'll probably weigh more than cheaper non integrated alloy bars and lack the adjustment flexibility.Faster than a tent.......0 -
I have some Zipp carbon bars and stem that I bought from a Planet X sale a couple of years ago. They are great, super stiff but comfortable at the same time, so much better than my old alloy ones.
The only con is that they are not exactly featherweight but they are also far from being heavy.x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x

I've got some Pro Stealth Evo Bars myself. Similar to Gabriel ^^^ I find them to be super stiff but very comfortable. £90 dearer (at Winstanleys - ask them to confirm with their supplier as they generally dont hold stock due to the vast range of size combos) than those from Ebay but to me - worth it given the great reviews.

I have carbon bars on both my bikes & don't have any regrets. All in all i think they offer more than alu/alloy bars. I have the FSA compact wing bars & the Cinelli Neo Morph bars. Both are great, very stiff but very light & look lovely. can't really comment on the chinese stuff but remember if they go wrong it might be problematic getting refunds etc! if you shop around you should find some at a reasonable price. The Mareks look good but is it worth the risk buying from this source?0

More expensive than alloy.
Might be heavier than alloy.
Not adjustable at all.
Could be dangerously weak counterfeits.
If the bike topples over you'd best replace the bars.
It's a no from me.0 -
You have to be careful with carbon bars, it's a difficult balance to get them stiff but still able to dampen the road buzz. I wouldn't touch those with a bargepole unless I read some decent reviews first (and even then I doubt I'd entrust my life to them). Personally on a £5k bike I ended up going for alloy bars as there was so little weight difference there was no point worrying about whether I'd get on with carbon bars.0

Alloy for me.If you crash then the bars are almost always gonna hit the ground. Alu might bend but you can carry on, carbon could well smash and then you're fooked. Pretty annoying if you're racing on taking part in a big sportive that you've spent months training for.
