Hi!
I'm looking for a 2nd hand workhorse for winter training and commuting. Have been using my Kuota this winter and worried that I'm going to wreck it if I carry on using it all year round!!

1. £350 budget (I Know not much)
2. Steel or aluminium?

Has anyone got any suggestions of any 2nd hand bikes to look out for that would fit the mould??

THanks for your help!!

Ribble? They seem to come up on ebay quite often.

You could always buy a frame and fork and swap some of the parts over to it then use it as an excuse to upgrade the kit on your Kuota! But then again there's not much of the winter left so it might be an idea to do this in the autumn.

im in a similar situation, need to replace the winter hack.

never test ridden this, also hate colour scheme, but the reviews from users and bikeradar have been very positive. for the money not sure you can go wrong:

  • Hi, I am selling a nearly new large Carrera Vanquish (2011 model with Tiagra shifters and carbon forks) which has covered less than 100 miles, if you are interested. PM me.....

    Thanks for the replies.
Seen one or two bikes I fancy.
Going more towards a second hand steel bike. If I get one below budget are there any decent training wheelsets out there for around £150??
    What do you all think???

I would say Shimano RS20 wheel set for that money if you can still find some.

Fulcrum Racing 7's also good in that price bracket.

Look at the review section on here (but do not assume their pricing is current)
    Yellow is the new Black.

Oh Ok - I though he meant wheels for training on (i.e. durable and winter use) as opposed to flashy, super light, summer only ones for racing.
