I've just received a 10 speed Tiagra cassette for using on my turbo wheel (8, 9, 10 speed freehub).

No (1mm) spacer was supplied and Shimano Tech docs don't show one in their diagrams.

Could anyone tell me if they've fitted one please and know for sure it doesn't need one, this is before I make some kind of boo boo and mash my mech into the rear spokes or something

  • Hi,
I've been building a bike up recently and bought a 10 speed cassette for use on a shimano freehub. It didnt come with a spacer either but needed one to make the lockring connect with the first cog. So i've bought this: https://www.wiggle.co.uk/shimano-cs-hg- ... et-spacer/

Not got a turbo so dont know how it fits in with that or if it makes any different so you might need someone else to help with that sorry.

    Try it without.

Put it onto the hub and tighten up the lockring, then try to waggle the cassette about.

If it needs the spacer, which is basically a washer about 1.5mm thick which you slip on the hub before the cassette is slid on, then no matter how tight you tighten-up the lockring, the cassette will waggle about.

If it fits tight and snug, no spacer is needed.
