I like the look of Kask helmets and was considering getting one. Does anyone have the mojito, if so how do you find it for ventilation? I also like the look of the vertigo so would be interested in anyones experiences. I've read most of the reviews but was after any personal experiences, especially with ventilation as this would be my biggest issue(I will be trying some on next week).
Thanks in advance.

Recent purchase of a k10, found it suited me more than a vertigo, ventilation is good and better than my old met mtb helmet!! But tbh I have not worn it in hot weather yet but I can tell you, my head gets cold easily without a hat on under the helmet ;)

No idea what the Vertigo is like, but I have the K50 and the ventilation is great so I'd image the more expensive models work well

    Kask lids are cool.

my lbs stocks all of the Kask helmets.

Have to say, they're pretty nice, few of the chaps i ride with have bought one and they rave about them. Then again, they bought them recently, so we'll see how they cope in the summer!

I got a deal on a white Vertigo last year. The fitting system is perfect and holds the helmet on my head so well i hardly need the chin strap. It's very well made and really comfortable. Not too mushroom domed either.
Would probably buy another but they are almost twice the price I paid last spring!
  • I would defo track a store and try one on, tried a few other brands that look great but dont fit my head so best bet is defo try before ya buy. A lbs was a stockist but no longer sell them, spoke to them and they claimed they were heavy unless you spent ~200, really fancy trying one on myself

Thanks for all the replies. Looking forward to trying a few next weekend.I noticed the vertigo and other models are available at really good prices if you fall into the 58 or under headsize.(this is classed as medium by kask helmets for the vertigo although sizing varies on other models). I appear to be borderline so hopefully a medium will just about fit, saving me quite a bit.
  • Find a K10, they fit everyone.

  • I've got a vertigo and the ventalation is amazing i'm looking into beanies or head skalves to stop my brain from freezing (I live in north QLD aus winters arn't that cold). Fit is great as well the up-down (TM) retention system fit snugly under the back of your skull holding the helmet on.

It's a very slimline helmet, the 'up'n'down' system is extremely secure and comfortable and the whole thing has a very nice, well made, feel to it. Far and away the nicest helmet I've had (vs a Met Veleno and Giro Hex for MTBing).

Rode to work this morning and my head was bloomin' freezing! So the ventilation is good.

As always, try before you buy if possible, but I'd heartily recommend it.

I finally got to try some out at the weekend and decided on the Mojito.
Excellent fit as everyone has mentioned, very impressed and love the slimline overall look of it.
Took delivery of it today, good deal with wiggle's freebies at the moment!

    What are these wiggle freebies?
How much did you get the lid for?
  • Wiggle freebies are gifts that they give to you if you spend over a certain amount. For example, spend £50 and you get a free water bottle, £75 earns you a box of Energy Gels. The gifts increase in value as you spend more up to a certain point.

There's a lot of good deals on last years K10 at the mo - £80 from both CRC and Parkers. Colour choices are limited but for £80 I wouldn't be too fussed.

I'd happily pay the SRP/RRP on another K10. In the shortlist of the best cycling kit I own/have ever bought.

Bought a Mojito yesterday - it's a revelation compared to my Giro. Very pleased.

Eyebee, what size did you end up getting? I am also between sizes and was wondering whether to go M or L.

I went with a medium in the end. I measure 59 but find I still have enough room for a buff if needed.

One thing to consider - Kask do not have a crash replacement policy.

    A K10 at £70 is cheaper than a Ionos replaced, isn't it?

Why would you think he did wear it without the chin strap? He hasn't said he doesn't use it........

    :?

    Exactly.

I can put the helmet on using the ratchet thing and shake my head about and the helmet won't move at all.

But of course I use the strap when I'm actually riding.

  • Just bought a Mojito and have to agree with the positive comments about the fitting system, much better than anything I have used previously (Giro, Met etc..) It's pretty light too at 220g and quite a streamlined look. Thumbs up from me!

  • Kask helmets from CRC at very low prices are usually because they are very old - hence the weird colourways.....check before buying!!

Also very cheap, £65 from Planet-X in Sky colours. I rode in mine for the first time this morning and the ventilation is fantastic.

Just bought a Mojito to replace my Casco. The difference in weight is noticeable (lighter) and as said, the ventilation is much better. The securing system is excellent and I agree you can shake your head about without the chinstrap and the helmet doesn't move. My only qualm with most helmets is the lack of the option of a mesh insert to the front vents. On the odd occasion that the sun makes an appearance it's nice to have something prevent the bugs flying into the helmet.

A cap or buff under the lid helps with the bugs
