Hi there, I'm looking to buy some new road wheels. I am 73kg in weight, and I ride Planet X guru sram red carbon bike. It came with some really heavy wheels.
My choices at the moment are:
1. Fulcrum racing 3
2. Mavic Ksyrum Elite
3. Shimano Dura ace aluminum
4. Shimano ultegra alu.
First 3 similar price range. Ultegra cheaper. I have read so many reviews and it gets very confusing.
I don't compete but do go out regularly.
Any thoughts please?
Cheers

Shimano RS80 C24 not on the list? Around £300 - £350 and an excellent all round wheelset0

Enio - there was a v similar thread to this last week, my same comments apply
you can have a pair of racing 3@ for less - sub £400! for a much better wheel than an RS 80
• Nominal weight*: front: 670g / rear: 885g

or I can really recommend adding £50 to your budget for these

two of those links are dead and the other just goes to tyres.
The DA 7900 C24 are a good wheelset, if you can stretch to 550

and PX has the RS80 for £300 which is great value wheelset

Fulcrum Racing 3's at £328 at Ribble:

I have been pleased with my set. They look great. Mine are now a year old and have hit a fair number of nasty potholes causing a few blow outs, but are still true as the day I got them (and I'm 90kg)
I have also heard good stuff about the RS80's, so the choice is yours.Simon0 -
I've got a pair of RS80's ready to go on my bike - they're very good and with a combination of new tyres and tubes will take almost 1kg off... so haven't ridden them yet, but paid just under £350 for them (didn't get the best deal, but good enough).
Just a note - they no longer look like the ones shown on the Planet X website - thats the original style, they now have graphics more like the other models in the range, not quite as nice in my view, so was a bit disappointed when I got them. Exactly the same though and now with black spokes which are better I guess.0 -
Hi guys thanks a lot for your suggestions. In the end I settled for Shimano RS80, £300 from planet x. I was told from
my local bike shop guy that the fulcrum are expensive if you replace parts. Mavic Ksyrim elite are possibly £100 more than the shimano. I must say that shimano look very good, and they are very light. Still need to try them on the road properly though.
Very much appreciated your comments.
