Looking for a £1k bike (bike2work threshold). Reading reviews from cycling+ and my thoughts are between Boardman team alloy and Giant Defy 1. As a total newbie any advise more than welcome !

    Try using the 'Search' facility if you can, since the same question is asked virtually every week - it's all there and all been answered many, many times.

    Depends on what kind of geometry you want/which one fits better.

    Boardman = racier
    Defy = slightly more relaxed

    I've got the 2012 defy 1 and its great, i went for it as i felt more comfortable on it than racier geometry bikes + the frame and ride quality is excellent. (i'm also undecided on the Boardman colour-scheme... whereas the giant is just simple white with blue and a bit of black)

    Both are equivalent spec -> although the Boardman is lighter and i'm not sure how Aksiums compare to the giant wheelset... i think they are probably marginally better.
