Hi guys, I've ordered an expander bung for my bike. I've been trying to test it, but it doesn't seem to be expanding enough to fill my steerer, Im not sure wether I using the correct bolts, theres 2 but one is underneath the other. And is there any technique involved in using a bung.

I have an mpart components expander bung

not used that particular one, but typically...

remove the top cap and bolt

inside the upper part of the bung, is there a recess for a hex key?

if so, that's what you use to expand it inside the steerer, once it's tight you put on the cap and screw in the bolt just enough to load the bearings

the bung should be positioned so that it covers the full length of the steerer that will be exposed to the stem clamp

if there's a flange at the top, this should rest on the top of the steerer tube, no gap, it may be you need to add a short spacer, 3-5mm, above the stem to prevent the cap fouling on the top of the bung

hahaha my goodness the results google gives these days. Well it actually turns out I was installing the bung correctly but the manufacture had put the bottom bolt on the wrong way round, switched it over and now its expanding properly :P
