Help with what headset and fork needed...
Where are my stabilisers?

Hello...
So, I bought a Commencal Supreme mini DH 2008 frame about 2 years ago, but haven't done anything with it yet. I'm now thinking about building it, but I haven't got a clue about what headset and fork to use coz it looks strange  !
The head tube has 2 screws and cut outs in it - like a seatpost tube and the bottom of the headtube has a black knobbly ring on the outside of it (not sure if this is part of the frame or if it's part of a dismantled headset).
Can anyone tell me what I'm dealing with and what kind of headset I'll need and what size the steerer tube would need to be? I asked Commencal, but they sent me a copy of the 2010 info which may be the same, but it didn't really help much!
Then I can start to save up some money to build it... maybe ... one day
Thanks

An adjustable one.
What headset fits depends on the size of the ole.
Pics or have a look the info in the FAQs or Parktools or the headset standards pages."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Ok, here's my pic...
Think the black thing is part of the adjustableness of it, is that right?
So, does adjustable mean that I could fit a 1 1/8 or a 1.5 steerer? Do I take the black thing out for a 1.5 or something? And how does the headset fit... Inside the black thing or?

Can not see an worthwhile detail in that picture so I can to say anything, all I see s a head tube."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

A quick google seems o show that it takes a standard headset.
But check the measurements."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

This one is of the bottom of the headtube. The black thing goes up the inside of the tube, but sits inside the headtube at the same level - not poking out like the big bottom bit.

Yes, a standard 1,1/8" headset fits this. Basically the black bit is a sleeve that goes through the head tube. You loosen the pinch bolts and twist it through 180deg to where it is now, and it will either take 2deg off the head angle or add it on, I can't remember which way around it needs to be. Though I think that's the gold one, the black one Is just a straight 0deg sleeve I THINK. Don't quote me on this.
This may explain a little better visually.
EDIT: just checked CRC, you can still buy these, here.. I'm not sure what angle yours might be, maybe take it out and it might have it printed on there? Should just slide out if you undo the pinch bolts.0 -
Thanks for that! That guide helps a lot . Sounds like there's a lot to play with!
Hopefully I can get enough cash together to get this bike built sooner rather than later, although I'm not sure I'm the person to do it justice!http://i556.photobucket.com/albums/ss9/ ... lurLT2.jpg
