Hi all

I have been looking for a decent windproof jacket which has decent warmth providing properties & might also withstand a short spell of rain.

I looked at the Gore Xenon SO jacket & the Castelli Mortirolo. However, i went for a Mavic Propane jacket which was in the sale on Wiggle at 40% off. Looks a bargain! Not sure about sizing, went for medium as i have a Mavic gilet in medium & this fit is perfect.

Does anyone have one of these that can offer any opinions? If it doesn't fit i might just get the Mortirolo.

Cheers

Giordana FRC winter jacket is wonderful if the shape fit you, I tend to just layer up and then use a shell if needed - more versatile but takes as long as a girl to get dressed!
  • Yes that one! Did read that review which prompted me to get it. Just wondering if anyone on here has used one?

I run an Oxygen SO and then layer up underneath depending on conditions. One or two bases basically.

Gore do other softshells too, which are thicker/warmer (Tool is one... there's a few).

I must admit, I'm a fan of the softshells as a warm windproof.

I have a cheap Rogelli softshell as well as a Gore Phantom II Jacket. The Gore is more breathable due to the ventilation (and has zip off sleeves), but the Rogelli is very well made and was a bargain at ?£38?

For underneath, I pick one of my selection of Merino wool tops (of different thicknesses) which I got as a set from PX.
