Hi I'm currently looking for some road cycling shoes in the sub 100 mark, I have found the Mavic 2012 Avenir Shoes which seem good in this range but as I can guarantee other people on this forum will know more about cycling shoes than me I would just like to ask are the shoes I have found good or would someone give me the name of a better shoe.

Thanks, Dave

£50 shoes that fit you will be better than £200 ones that don't!

Not as obvious as it sounds....depends on the shape of your foot, Shimano shoes, tend to come up a little narrow and Northwave are often a little wider than the norm.

The best thing to do is try a few in a bike shop to see what fits your feet.
  • Ok I'll go to my lbs and try some on thanks for the reply
  • Also see if any will lety you ride with them on. Walking around the shop is all very well, but it's totally different to being on the pedals for several hours. Therefore research on t'internet is worth doing.
For my part I have Shimano RO87's which I find very comfy over long miles, and with ratchet and straps easy to loosen off on the move when feet start to swell.
Some people are like slinkies - not much use for anything, but they bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.
