Hello,

I am interested in buying my first serious road bike. I got a budget of 1000 pounds max. I am interested in

Boardman Team

http://www.boardmanbikes.com/road/road_team.html

Bianchi Via Nirone 7 Veloce

http://www.bianchi.it/Uk/Bikes/Bikes_De ... ster=60655

Cube Attemp 2011 (if i can find one)

http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/category/ ... -11-43155/

I am planning to do 1-2 days of training per week solo and when i get feet I am gonna follow more experienced groups of riders 70-100 kmh. Maybe some amateur racing if I feel like it.

Which of the three bikes is better for it. Bianchi has an issue of wheels from what I read over the net. A nice design, but I do not know if the frame can be fast if I change wheels and tyres

On the other hand Boardman is not Bianchi but it has excellent reviews. Moreover, I am gonna order the Boardman without being able to test it since I do not live in the UK.

Cube Attempt is hard to find ....

What do you suggest? Anyone who has experience of both bikes?

Thanx

    70-100kmh? That's some serious speed!

They're all good, choose one that fits best for you. If they all have similar fit, get the one you like the look of best.

If it's just the three, then i'd look at the boardman or the cube.

Unfortunately, Bianchi tend to be more pricey, as you're paying a little more for the name.

The cube does get a great review wherever you go, but it's an ally frame instead of carbonium
  • Bianchi. Good looking bike with solid Veloce groupset.
  • I've got the Bianchi - ridden 2000 miles this year, and loved it. You do pay more for the name, so get less spec than either the Boardman or Cube, but the kit you do get is fine in my opinion. And it looks great - had loads of admiring looks when its parked outside a cafe by passers by.

And yes I had my wheels replaced with Khamsim's as they were not right - spokes to short (?!) and my freehub slipped and got damaged after 1300 miles. I wasn't aware of any known problems with wheels, but would still probably buy the same bike again, and indeed another Bianchi.

If it was me, and I could find one I'd go with the CUBE. I looked at one earlier in the year and was very tempted, I just didn't have the money at the time otherwise I would of had one.

    2015 Specialized Roubaix Sport sl4

    2014 Specialized Allez Sport
  • Go for the Cube Streamer from Winstantley's - It's a higher spec than the Attempt, it's lighter and has a better groupset. All that for £859 - Plus it's a real looker.

Chain reaction also do the same bike in a triple. They also have a £100 off a £1000 spend offer.

I've just ordered the Cube Streamer triple from Chain Reaction (combined with Keo pedals and some lights to take advantage of the offer Wardieboy highlighted). It's to replace a Boardman Road Comp that was stolen 2 weeks ago. Much better spec than the Boardman IMHO
2020 Reilly Spectre - raw titanium
2020 Merida Reacto Disc Ltd - black on black
    2015 CAAD8 105 - very green - stripped to turbo bike
    2018 Planet X Exocet 2 - grey

    The departed:

    2017 Cervelo R3 DI2 - sold
    Boardman CX Team - sold
    Cannondale Synapse - broken
    Cube Streamer - stolen
    Boardman Road Comp - stolen
