hello

as the title suggests i am wondering wether a pair of sram apex 10 speed shifters will work with my 8 speed cassette and rear deraileur i have been looking at things like this
" rel="nofollow">http://jtekengineering.com/shiftmate.htm/url]
but it seems it only changes from shimano to campag??
i have heard that the gap between the sprockets may be too small or too large. is this true or does it really matter??
any help will be gratefuly appreciated as these shifters may end up being my christmas present :D

As you failed on the linking.

An no it will not work. But a 10spd cassette will work with your wheel.

Shifters an cassette and rear mech needed.

    thanks
so will the block on the wheel be big enough to accomodate the 10 speed cassette as i assume the less sprockets on a cassette the thinner it is??
    sorry if sounding dumb haha

Again this is making some assumptions as I have no idea what you have.

Shimanos patten free bodies that work with 8spd Aldo work with 9 and 10spd cassettes. But they are not mixable. So keep the speeds the same and the make the same and you should be fine.

    Details always help though.

    ok
i have a shimano 2300 setup on a revolution continental 10. the shifters that i am interested in are the sram apex white.
will the 10 speed cassette be able to be fitted to the wheel block??

  • Your shimano 2300 mech won't work with the apex shifters. Shimano and SRAM pull different amounts of cable. If you want to use the apex shifters you will also need a SRAM rear mech. The front mech should be okay though. Won't matter if you use a shimano or SRAM cassette as the spacings are the same and they use the same spline pattern on the free hub.
