What winter gloves are people using????
Its my 1st winter on road bike and since the temp has dropped i wore my winter gloves i use for MTB....
Problem i have is they are quite thick and struggled with changing gear and breaking with them
So are there any good winter gloves that are'nt so thick in design????
cheers

I find pearl izumi cyclone to be pretty good on their own down to about 5 or 6 degrees, then below that i'll wear undergloves and that will be me good down to freezing. They are not bulky and i particularly like the cuffs they have which help prevent drafts up the arm.
If it is seriously cold then specialized sub zero lobster mitts are very toasty, but they are also bulky0 -
I have sealskinz waterproofs for the winter. They served me well last year.
I've also just bought some silk glove liners from decathlon which should ensure no cold fingers during the coldest weather. They were only £5, but coupled with decent gloves I am confident that this combination will be more than adequate, for a London winter at least.0 -
Like the look of the Pearl Izumi coupled with liner glove should do me for the coming winter
thx very much for replies much appreciated.

Don't for gods sake buy the Rapha winter gloves for 70 quid.
Complete load of old $hit for that kind of money, never again!0 -
^^^^^ no good then :P
will stay well clear of those, cheers m80 -
giantman - what was the problem with the rapha 5hite?
i have sportful windstopper ones from wiggle. Fine for all but super cold I guess though I don't ride if there's a good chance of ice so warm enough for me. Very comfy and windblocking!0 -

+1 but I wear merkalon undergloves under a size larger to allow for better circulation when its v coldCoach H. (Dont ask me for training advice - 'It's not about the bike')0 -

There's nowt wrong with mine, but I did only pay £35 in the summer sale They work really well but not suited to sub zero for me.0 -
I've loads of gloves but when it's sub zero I use a £5 pair of aldi golfing mittens. I'd either be on my fixed with no gears or my mtb with thumb shifters so no problem.
You can keep the rapha and the 26 layer three figure assos glove systems.0 -
I'm wearing these on the way to work and finding them a little too warm for the 10deg temps but perfect for the return journey with 4-5deg temps, £7.50 delivered.

I use Prendas Powerstretch gloves for fairly cold weather (down to around 5 degrees). Below that, I have a pair of Pearl Izumi Amfib gloves and some North Face liner gloves. Very good at keeping the paws toasty but it takes a bit of getting used to with STIs.0

I seem to have longer thumbs than most and have a problem with long fingered gloves - when I ride with my hands around the brake hoods, which is about half the time, it pulls the glove tightly (and eventually painfully) onto the end of my thumb. Even buying 2 sizes too big doesn't seem to help much as glove sizes seem to be about how fat your hands are not how long your fingers are. Does anyone know of any winter gloves with longer thumbs/fingers, or constructed so they don't tighten if you've got your hands on the brake hoods? Has anyone else got the same problem?0

I've tried a few, and really suffer with cold hands when the temp drops.
Best by FAR FAR FAR are the Specialized Sub Zeros...a little bulky for things like tiny zips etc but brilliantly windproof and proper warm down to <0 degs for me. Breathable enough as well that if it warms up a tad then you (I) dont find them all sweaty and horrible.
Best suited to <5 degs or really cold winter windy days though.Your Past is Not Your Potential...0 -
I've been through quite a few pairs. Endura Stryke are the best ones I've found and have been using them the last couple of winters. Reason is they are not bulky, but still offer good warmth and the fit is spot on.0

Did this happen recently? Could they have fixed them for this year? I know you pathologically detest RaphaPegoretti

I have some of these as well. Nice warm gloves with good padding/grip on the palms. However, they fit around the wrist like a track mitt (ie they lack a cuff) so I always have a slight gap between jacket sleeve and glove. Also, they claim to be waterproof....and my name's spongebob!!!Bald is Beautiful0
