Help, my break pad seems to be pressing on my wheel!?
Hello, i noticed some extra resistance and a rubbing noise on my rear wheel(been mostly on turbo last week or so). Just been poking around and it seems that my break pads were pressing against the wheel. This seems to be just the left one(from looking behind). I have fixed the problem by moving the little lever on the breaks that seems to adjust the breaks? But I can tell the one break pad is still closer although not touching than the other side. I would rather fix the problem properly if I could. Can anyone offer some advice t someone who obviously does not know what he is really doing! Lol thank you.

Five possible options offhand:
1. Use the 2mm allen screw at the top of the caliper to move the pad out;
2. Undo the quick release, re-centralise the wheel so the pad doesn't rub;
3. Re-centralise the caliper by undoing the nut holding it on, centralising it and doing the hut up again, making sure that you don't do it so tioghtthat it clamps on permananetly; and
4. Release the cable tenson a tad using the screwy thing on the caliper.
Also check that you haven't snagged the cable somewhere that's causing pressure on the cable and causing it pull the brake on.

Thank you, I will have a try at re aligning it that sounds pretty good to me. Cheersenigma esprit

If the lever moved the pads away from the rim it sounds the quick release which should only be used when you are removing the wheel, not to adjust the brakes.
If one pad is touching the rim then it sounds like a simple case of re centralising the brakes. You will find an allen bolt on the opposite side of the frame to where the brake is. Undo it a little bit, twist the whole brake until the pads are an equal distance from the rim, then tighten it back up.
You may also need to re-align the brake pads with rim, just undo the nut, align the pad with the top of the rim, re-tighten.
Then pull the lever to make sure both pads are contacting the rim at the same time, which they should be and job done.0
