play in hub: cosmic carbone SL 2011
Hi all,
I treated myself with a brand new out-of-the-box Canyon Aeroad CF which came with Cosmic Carbone SL wheels. After cycling on it for a few weeks now (which is a wicked ride btw!) I start to notice that the Cosmic wheels have play in the axle. This is the case in both the front and rear wheel.
Normally it's a matter of tightening up the bolts on the axle and that's the job done. However Mavic have another mechanism that prevents me from getting to these bolts. I am aware that the Mavic set came with the "Free play adjustment wrench: M40123" which has little pins that slide into the axle-cap. However until now I'm still unable to open it that way.
Does any of you have any suggestions on how to get rid of the annoying play in these Cosmic Carbone SL hubs?
Cheers!
Patrick

Look at the Mavic tech docs - 5mm Allen key in one end of the axle and adjust the cones / bearing play with the Mavic pin tool - there are no conventional cones on Mavic hubs.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

You should have got the tool for adjusting the hub with the bike when you bought it, tyre lever one end and pin spanner on the other.0
