Kind of a change of pace, Imanol Erviti of Movistar says that Cyclists are the weakest part of traffic. http://www.marca.com/2011/11/27/ciclism ... 89258.html and that better security measures are needed. I tried to run the babelfish translation to little success: http://babelfish.yahoo.com/translate_ur ... =Translate but the main thing is I think, with all of these other stories, an old bike safety article is interesting making the Sunday news in Marca, ABC.es and Rioja.
. "We must ride many hours and record the details in order that each year, there are fewer accidents. That must be the objective." http://www.abc.es/agencias/noticia.asp?noticia=1016247

Furthermore, he nor his fellow cyclists are afraid to ride on the highway although they are affected by the bad habits of drivers. - http://www.rioja2.com/n-89038-404-Ervit ... _carretera

Just a change of pace, thought this wasn't a bad series of articles to run upon the upcoming holidays. I know there won't be much to comment on here. I don't think he really recommends any specific measures himself in the articles.

These F~~king Islands are the bain of my life. Trying to avoid an Island like this I tried to go up on a low kerb, like the one on the left side of the photo; my front wheel slid along the edge and bike went from under me and ending up landing me on my ribs which still hurt 3 weeks later. I get really P!ssed Off that cars/vans/lorries want to all squeeze through the gap between me and the traffic island. I end up speeding up or slowing so I don't get squeezed by traffic. Who invented this idea of the Traffic Island should be punched in the ribs so they can have ribs like mine.

  • Or just ride with more confidence and use 1/3rd of the road so that there is no gap when going through ... I live in a city and have to do it all the time ... Sure some drivers are pissed off but better that than them barely noticing you as the scream through the gap ...

We got 3 in a row about 50 yards apart and you have to hammer it through to try to hold cars at bay. If anyone is keen they try to get round you then another and then you get squeezed even if you're in the middle of the lane. Good training though.

  • I hurt my ribs once and they did not seem to heal significantly for anything, then I got some of the deep freeze/deep heat sorts of ointments and it took the pain away immediately. I thought I had cracked ribs or something but no, they weren't. Advise is to also breath deeply even if your ribs may hurt you, you need to.

    Thanks for the ointment tip.
I have done my ribs big style before and the nurse told me then to get off my butt and get moving.
I've been riding a fair bit since so getting back to normal now.
I broke my golden rule for mounting low curbs. Hit a low curb at less than 45 degree angle and the front wheel can slide from under youself as mine did. Hmmmm...
    Thanks again.
