handlebar tape

I`ve bought a new set of bars for my bike but had hoped to reuse the existing bar tape as its not that old but i discovered starting to take it off that is has the self adhesive strip on the back. Is it possible to re-use this or should i forget it and buy some new bar tape.

    I'd just get some new. It stretches when you put it on so it's difficult to get it nice once you take it off, even if you manage to avoid tearing it during removal.

    If you wrap your bars with electrical tape first it is possible to remove and reuse the bar tape many times as it doesn't stick so fiercely. You can get years out of Fizik Microtex IME.
    Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

    Even without it works! I put some on my old tourer, wrapped old style from the middle out. Unfortunately, it doesn't stay flat as well as the old style so started lifting before the hoods. So I unwrapped it, and re did it from the outside to inner. Looks fine!
    Faster than a tent.......
