Hi All. I have just fitted a new set of brakepads on my rx's. I followed the instructions and pushed the calipers right in before pushing in the pads but the problem I have is that the pads are always touching the disc (they seem too chunky) making it very hard pedaling, especially up hill. Any sugestions to sort this problem would be greatly appreahsiated.

regards
Dave

Push the callipers back a bit more with the pads in.

There are differences in pad thicknesses between manufacturers. To make matters worse, the RXs run very close to the rotors in general (I have some as well and they often rub). How to fix this? As cooldad says, you may need to press the calipers in further. I wouldn't use the new pads when trying this - you could damage them. If you have the old pads, put them back in. Use a thin piece of wood or plastic that is wider than the rotor and push that between the pads. I have a wedge-shaped piece of plastic that pushes the calipers back in. Again, I do this before I remove the old pads to avoid damaging the new ones.
  • Cheers guys I'll try it again in the morning.
