Mavic rim problem?
I won't name n shame the online shop as they are trying to sort issue, slightly annoyed as bike is 3months old and I have got to send wheel back and ride unicycle whilst it is inspected.
Has anyone else had an issue with Mavic Cxp22 I think they are on my felt f74, from new the front wheel braking has been a little jerky, thought it might just need bedding in. Hasn't got any better even after cleaning wheel with degreaser and infact on a down hill section in Cornwall the bike nearly through me off the cliff!
There is a section on the rim where the blocks do not grip and it has got worse and worse, nothing visual no damage etc.
But what I have found if you adjust blocks upto the rim and the rotate it there is a flat spot at the joint and the blocks loose contact hence the jerking!
Is this a common fault on Mavic rims, should I get a new wheel as bike is only 3 months old? It's all a little more difficult to sort as it's an online store only, so should I try and contact felt directly?

No it's not a common problem with Mavic wheels, in general their rim QC is second to none.
You shouldn't necessarily get a new wheel, or even a new rim, PROVIDED the problem can be fixed with the original one in a reasonable time.
Your contract is with the online store- Felt have no idea when you bought the bike. Has the online store had the wheel for long? Are they actively in communication with you about it? You bought the bike online for a reason- which was probably price-related, the apparent difficulties you are having are due to this decision you have made. it is probably reasonable to expect a result a little slower than a walk in shop.0 -
Wheel collected today for investigation in there workshop and report back.
I have 2 felt bikes and have had no issue dealing with Felt directly in the past and they have always been very helpful, was just wondering if it was a common issue or known problem with this model of wheel. Again no issue with Mavic I have used them for years with no issue.
Was just a little concerned as the bike is only a couple of months old and has been like it from new getting slowly worse.
But thanks for your comments.
Oh and the reason I always use this online store is not price related but on their quick service, reliable delivery, good stock levels and as I get a good discount due to my annual spend with them as a loyalty reward.Felt AR4

If you have dealt with Felt in the past and they have been helpful thats great, but they are not legally obliged to- whereas the shop is- it certainly won't be quicker to deal direct with Felt.
And when is getting a good discount not price related? Online stores can offer bigger discounts because of the economies of scale, low rents etc. It's not a criticism, if you don't need the services that bike shops- why should you pay for it? However a local bike shop that you frequent as much as you do said online retailer may have lent you a wheel while yours is being sorted out. Swings and roundabouts.0
