Cateye ABS Halogen Bulb replacement

I have a Cateye ABS-10 (10w) which works great 'cept that it only lasts for about 90mins total from full charge. I would prefer it if I get longer out of the battery even if it means a dimmer light. If I were to fit a lower wattage bulb, say a 5W, would this mean I'd get a longer battery life between recharges?

    Of course it would as you'd be reducing the power drain on the battery.
    Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
