Campagnolo compatibility

Hi, I know this question has been asked before but i cant seem to find it in the search function today. I am building up a new bike for next spring summer and i am looking at campag centaur and zondas on a planet x team AL with some bits of bling thrown in to spice it up a bit.

What i would like to know is how compatible are centaur groups from say 2007-8 with the 2011-2012 stuff. My main concern is the chainset, i cant afford carbon but dont want the black one that comes with the new 2011 group. Ive seen some good deals on older stuff but will it all work together?

    Yes, it'll be fine. A chainset is a chainset is a chainset!

    Use a Shimano or FSA one if you want.

    PS I'm just about to list an alloy 2008 Campag Centaur compat chainset in the classifieds. 50/34, 170 crank arms. With BB bearing cups. Any good?
