Hi

Im looking at lacing my own wheels.

Im using rims with a 56mm depth and a ERD of 535

Front:
PCD = 32
flange distance to centre = 34.5
Spoke hole = 2.4
20 Hole
Radial Lacing
14mm Nipples
Gave me 251mm which is close a set of similar wheels i own

Rear
PCD = left - 38, right - 47
Flange = left - 40, right - 19
24 hole
Left side radial and right side 2 cross
[/b]Gave me left - 249mm and right - 245mm

Can any one verify that because that seems really short for the rear. And as its my first set i wanna get it right.

Thanks for any input

Rory H

    I've just run it through the DT calc and get -

    Front - 251

    Rear - Left 249 Right 254

    Not sure if the difference is a typo on yours but I'd double check that right hand side.

    The Left rear is short because the PCD is larger than on the front rim which more than offsets the wider flange to centre.
  • Oppps yea typo on my part ;-)

    Kl if they dont do the exact size spoke is it worth going 1mm llonger or shorter for the next size?

    Cheers

    Given the depth of the rim it won't make much difference - the mechanical load on a thread is only taken by about 6 turns of thread maximum (about 3mm) so the remainder of the spoke thread is effectively redundant.
    Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

    Everything I've read suggests going 1mm shorter if you're between sizes.

    Doubt it matters though (apart from the weight saving :lol: ).
