Shimano Disc Brakes

Hi
I have a Bianchi Kuma 3500 which has Shimano BRM445 disc brakes. Its only a year old but the brakes are not sharp enough plus they have a loud squeak/screeching noise when applied - bit like my old Rayleigh Grifter had when I was 8!
If I change or upgrade the pads will that improve braking? And after reading some other forums am I right in thinking that I can replace with Sintered S2 (M525) pads?
Thanks a lot
Andy

The pads are the same shape as the M525 pads. I don't think M445 brakes are meant to use sintered pads though, I am pretty sure they are for resin only due to the increased heat build up in sintered pads. I know some lower spec Shimano brakes say this.0

I didn't expect the pads to wear out that quickly but I think I'll buy some stock replacements and see how I get on.
