The wife has an old (80s) steel frame mtb which still has the original cantilever brakes fitted . I'm looking to swap them for some V brakes to improve the braking . Is it as simple as just swapping them over replacing the cables and that's that or are there issues I should be aware of ?

EDIT : forks are steel non-suspension with bosses (currently with cantis)

you will need suitable Levers as well. some were switchable between V and C. (barrel position on the lever).
