Trying to work out if my BB are knacked, i can hear a grinding sound, but not directly from them.
i know if you hold onto the crank arms and pull back and forth that can be a sign, but im unsure how much moverment is there and if i sould worry.
been around 5 months sinse i installed the deore BB and have been cycling about 2-3 times a week, sometimes more though not off road at present..

There should be no play in the cranks. Do the bearings feel gritty?
Take the cranks off, clean any dirt of the surfaces, and put back on.0 -
thanks for help,
did a good check today and when i move the cranks round and round there isnt any noise at all or grinding.
then when i ride the bike i can hear some grinding :?
hopefully a good clean+grease on the cranks and i wont need to remove the BB.
does it matter though if i dont use torque wrench to tighten the crank arm little bolt?(says 12-14nm)London2Brighton Challange 100k!

As long as you don't strip it or it falls out, you don't need one.I don't do smileys.
