Can central heating cause bearings to seize?

I've had two bottom brackets seize up in the last two weeks. I put the first down to a lot of mud and pressure washing but the second hasn't seen much abuse. Could it be down to me turning on the heating recently? I'm guessing no as it's hotter and dryer on a hol in Spain but let me know what you think.
