Front derailleur rub

I have been trying to get my front mech sorted for a while.

I loosened the cable, set the L limit so it just about touches the cage when in the low gear and granny ring, reattached cable, tensioned and reset the high limit, but I keep getting the chain rubbing the front mech when in the big ring and 2 highest gears.

I`ve moved the cage down so it sits 2mm above the outer ring and tried fettling the alignment but it still seems to rub.

I thought maybe chainline, but how do I check the chainline is correct?

I`ve been told before that it will always rub,a little in the grany ring or large ring, regardless of how ell set up but I do find it really annoying.

Its an XT drivetrain, chainset and mech.

sounds like more tension needed to allow it to move out more.

  • Doh, forgot that Nick!

2 turns of the adjuster provided a bit more tension and now only getting very slight rub highest gear only.
