Despite being a big football fan I couldn't tell you who won the football - or tennis for that matter - at the 2008 or 2004 Olympics, but I bet the majority of cycling fans can name the last two Olympic champions at least.
Winning Olympic gold in London. If Cav could only win one race next year I bet he'd pick that.0 -
He'll have plenty chances to win the green jersey, but, unless Rio produce a sprinter friendly course, this is realistically his only chance to win an Olympic gold on the road.
Just seen that Azerbaijan are one of 6 bids for the 2020 Games.0 -

There are sprinters on other teams, who will genuinely fancy their chances - inc Renshaw, Goss, Greipel, Kittell, Boss etc. Sky will do their share, but won't be the same machine HTC were. As G has said, with Wiggo, the best the team can hope to do is keep him safe and delivery him to the bottom of the final climb in good shape.........after that it's up to him. The Vuelta was very unusual, in that he had Froome by his side, even when the going got really tough. Personally, I don't see Froome reaching those heights again.
I dont think GreenEdge have a GC guy signed at the moment* so i would have thought their eggs will all be in the Goss basket.
*Judging by this page - of course they could yet sign someone else
