Avid Elixir - pads very tight

Got Avid Elixir brakes on my Trek and usually have no trouble changing the pads.
However recently bought some new Avid branded pads and when fitted they are so tight the wheel barely moves.
Have reseated the pistons prior to fitting and also pumped the brake lever numerous times after fitting but the pads are still just very tight.
Tried the pads on the front and rear and is the same on both wheels.
Anyone else experienced this? Or have I just been sent a set of randomly 'fat' pads.
Very annoying as I will now have to rub them down a bit to get them to fit.

system overfilled with fluid perhaps? not uncommon with avids0

I've never added fluid so shouldn't be an overfill issue.0

more like not uncommon with people who do not know how to correctly bleed brakes."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

True, but unfortunately that is some of the avid mechanics then! wouldn't be the first time a set has been overfilled from the get go0
