Anyone recommend a wireless comp for rear wheel use (ie on a turbo)?
I have a cateye velo and the range isn't far enough.

I think that is the problem you'll find with a lot of the cheaper computers. The range is usually less then 1m.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0

cateye v2c, cateye strada double or other similar witrh cadence monitor, as it works with a sensor on the pedal it has a sensor that fits on the chain stay, catching both the pedal sensor and the rear wheel sensor.
some good deals on ebay. Some people are like slinkies - not much use for anything, but they bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.

The only computers I know that mount the sensors on the rear wheel are Garmins and Powertaps (a bit of an expensive option!).
You could bodge up something that will fix it to your top tube while you're on the turbo, angle it right and you should be fine moving it 1/2 way to the back wheel. Not like you need to worry about riding into things while you stare at your bottom bracket.0 -
Mind you I also say hello to horses in the field and moocows and sheepses.0

Vote for Cateye V2C here.
Strada double wireless is ok, but I'd choose the wired cadence one over it as the lower frequency transmission really suffers from interference from other electrical things.
V2C on the other hand is not bothered by any close proximity equipment.0 -
My garmin works fine with the cad and speed sensor on the rear wheelFelt AR4
