I'm in the process of rebuilding an onld Kona for a friend. It need new shifters, chain, cassett, jockey wheels and wheels. It's currently runnign 7 speed.
My question is can I change to 8 or 9 speed without changing the front and rear mech's ?
Thanks

Probably, mechs do have a range but as long as you don't go for a massive cassette should be fine. I'd go with 8 speed as parts are much cheaper.I don't do smileys.

Shifters must match the cassette for speed.0
