The ones recommended by or supplied by the wheel manufacturer. If none stated then SS Yellow or Reynolds Blue seem to be the ones generally well regarded.
I'm not simply being a pedant, some manufacturers develop their rims specifically for a brake pad or vice-versa. As an example some recommend using cork pads only.

they work fine and they're just a little bit cheaper than the Swisstops....
I tried some of those but found them to be really grabby compared to the Pro-Lite pads I now use. Pro-lite pads are only £6.99 for 4 at CRC.
interesting - I haven't tried the Pro Lite pads - might give them a try...
