Hi I'm looking for some advice, it's my 50th next year and I'd like to buy a new frame never having owned a carbon frame, I'm leaning towards one. My budget is £1000 max for the frame alone, I have ultegra groupset, bars and wheels so would just need to buy a stem and seat post.

Any suggestions :D

  • Wouldn't I need another set of wheels for the other corner :lol: You'll get there one day or maybe you have :)

get a race license then buy frameset from Canyon - includes seatpost, headset and stem - great frames and value too

  • Do you need a licence to buy a Canyon then or did that go over my head !!

I think Canyon do a discount if you have a race licence.

Treat yourself to a classic secondhand carbon frame (if you are happy with the thought of secondhand carbon - never bothered me too much as long as I can visually inspect the bike)

A Colnago C40 - and get plenty of change from your £1K to treat yourself to some other goodies.

Or a Colnago C50 - should be just about on budget.

My C40 is just great - love it. Smooth ride and pals at the club always compliment it. It'll probably still be worth the money that I paid for it in 10 years time.

A Colnago with Ultegra groupset may not be for everybody but it's not a major issue IMO (although I did change my C40 from Shimano to Campag Chorus :D )
