Cleat positioning
Hi all,
I've just worn through my gray coloured Look cleats and replaced them with the red type because I really need a toe-out position on my left foot.
What I didn't do on the gray coloured ones was fit the memory plate meaning i had to start again. However, it has brought to my attention a couple things.
Initially my cleat positioning was at the part of my foot if you tip-toe (where all the pressure is applied). The only issue with this was, as someone with flat feet, I could cramp up, but only very occasionally.
Reading many advice pages etc, I see many people are advocating the further back the better. Any opinions?
I'm a regular rider who does partake in the odd tri - so speed over comfort would be better

Ball of foot above or just ahead of the centre of the pedal axle.
You 'stamp' on the pedals, not tippy toe on them.0 -
Yep, ball of the foot centred over the pedal spindleYou've no won the Big Cup since 1902!0

Thanks fo rthe responses - what do you mean 'the ball of your foot''?
What ball :?
I have flat feet - literally flat as a pancake. Do you mean just prior to your toes?0 -
The widest part of the foot when viewed from above. The ball of your foot is the big round bit to the rear of where your big toe joins the foot.
If you're getting foot crapms you could aim to have the pedal spindle just to the rear of this to see if it helps.0 -
