Garmin 500 troubles

On my second ride with the garmin today and it has failed me!
I set a course, followed it but it at the end of the route it froze and I had to reset it.
When i plugged it in to the computer I has missed off a large part of the route by cutting a straight line though the route yet the total mileage is what it should be (with garmins short cut it would be about 20 miles shorter)

any ideas?

    after looking at where the route stops it was at the cake stop :roll: till where i reset it.

    I'm guessing i didn't press start :shock:

    How has it got the correct total mileage then?!!

    Unless the Garmin thought "Odd, explosifpete isn't home yet but he isn't recording. I know, I'll just keep an eye on things myself anyway"!!

    Pretty sure its a known bug from the beginning that has never been fixed. Useless pieces of cr@p. I bought mine to follow courses, it has never completed a trip yet! Freezes every time.

    Yep, there are numerous reports of this problem on the Garmin forum. Mine is perfect when recording data but has frozen or shut off every time I've used it to follow a decent length course. Shorter ones have mostly been ok.
