Road Tyre Size Advice Please

Hi
I am running Conti Ultra Sport 700x23C and am looking at Conti 4 Seasons for the winter. Should I think about a different size tyre? (25 or 28?).
Dont know if relevant but I am 100kgs, have an Ali frame bike and the wheels are AlexRims Race 28.
I want a tyre that inspires confidence on those dubious downhill, negative camber country lanes with odd loose stones/debris!!!
Thanks Very Much!

Hi,
I've just removed 700x23C Ultras in exchange for Gatorskins and moved upto 25C for the Winter roads.
Feels really well balanced (particually in the in the strong winds) and I'm 90KG so i thought the extra wdith might be a good idea.
Don't think you can go far wrong with the 4 seasons (only reading reviews, not personal experience)
I found the side walls of the Ultras a bit weak, but hey I'm new to this game, someone with more experience will be along shortly....0 -
I'd normally say 25s but at 100kgs, 28 might be better but make sure you have the clearance.0
-
not too relevant...however, anything but 20mm, worst decision i've ever made!
actually come to think of it, that's not relevant to this thread at all, oh well!0 -
hi i put 4 seasons a few months back in 25 size and find they far more comfortable than 23 s plus ive gone from a puncture a week to er none , i think ill probably just leave them on as 25 s will be just as fast as 23 s but offer a bit more comfort. The family that rides together stays together !

If this is for winter just consider clearance in relation to any mudguard you may decide to fit.“You may think that; I couldn’t possibly comment!”

Any thoughts on grip of Grand Prix 4000 vs 4 seasons.
More concerned about this than puncture resistance.

The GP4000 is more of a (great) race tyre and doesn't give the same level of puncture resistance - apparently.....0

Save the GP4000s for fair weather, they are not a winter tyre (unless you enjoy repairing punctures?)Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

Went with size 25 Four Seasons. Very stiff, can run lower pressures. Maybe need some use to make them more supple.Norco Aurum 2 2012

4 Seasons are more durable than GP4000S. The only problem they have is the price.
Unlike Monty I seem to get away with GP4000S all year with very few punctures (I'm unhappy if I get more than 3 a year).0 -
the latest issue of cycling plus has a really good review all the different winter tyres, might be worth a read0

does your frame have clearance for 28mm tyres?0

I've been on 25mm 4 seasons for 3 years of year round riding and have only punctured twice; one a thorn like a harpoon, the other a snakebite from a pothole cos I was too lazy to pump them up before going on a night ride.
Initially expensive, but very durable so probably good VFM0
