hiya, i currently have suntour epicon forks that came on my carrera fury. im wantitng to but a 203mm disk on but the forks state 185mm max. can i risk putting spacers on the caliper bracket and use a 203mm disk or shall i get new forks? i could only spend maybe £300-350 so would i get much of an upgrade for that as i know the epicons are quite good value for money.
many thanks

The fork is 185 max, do not risk it.
There are some forks that area little better like the Rockshox Reba.
Are the current brakes lacking? What do you weigh?0 -
sorry i realise now this probably should have been in the 'buying adive' section!
yes i had seen the reba's and just looking at some other threads on here can get them for about £270, do these take a 203 disc though as it doesnt seem to say?
well the brakes that came with my bike are juicy 3's which are ok but dont seem great, i like my breaks (be it car or bike) to stop me quickly and effortlessly, hence wanting the upgrade. recently during some fast downhill there was an obsticle blocking the path which i saw late due to bad light. literally only just stopped in time despite grasping the breaks HARD. just wanted something a bit better! only weigh about 68kg (not sure in stone) but going to be getting into downhill aswell so imo i would like overkill rather then just enough

Why don't you upgrade your breaks instead of your forks - you can get really nice breaks for £180ish (formula the one?) that will make a far bigger difference than a larger rotor?Kinesis xc 130:

Doesn't mean they are any more powerful - infact, maybe less, as Juicys can be set upto be very grabby.0

is there much difference betwen the 2012 and the 2011 reba's exept about £50?
i am wanting to upgrade the breaks, but instead of going for another 185mm im wanting 203mm which means new forks.
i am trying to make the juicy 3 better, got a bleeding kit, new fluid and braided hoses but tbh i dont think im going to quite get the stopping power i would like hence wanting the upgrade!0 -
Some 2012 Rebas have a new damper - see the Rockshox webpage for details.0
