I'm going to be getting a new bike after selling my downhill and all mountain bike, i love the look of the Orange's but not sure which one to get, the Five or the Alpine? I'll be doing all of the 7 stanes, some uplifts and the odd trip to Morzine but will a heavy build Five (eg coil shock and 36's) do it better than an Alpine?

....I bet 6 pages, massively overestimated on the road bike thread.

    Good Luck Roc!

Test them? They are quite different bikes in geometry.
  • I'm planning on testing them but just wondered what other people think and what they ride their's on?

as Supersonic says, yyou are goimg to have to test both bikes. I have a five which does what I need it to do which is mostly trails like Cwmcarn and Afan and lots of the local trails. There are lots of hills to climb which I can do on it. It is also great on the downs. I think It would handle the odd trip to the Alps but is not going to be as good as the 160.
I guess you will have to figure out how much climbing you will do against uplifts.
Not having riden the 160 Im not sure about its climbing abilities, but I guess they will be good.
Perhaps someone with the Alpine could chip in.

Remember there are many other makes and models out there, however not many as good as an Orange 5 Pro. :D

Guess you will now be able to read at least 6 pages. :)
