Sorry but I cannot work this out.

On the Vuelta stage route maps this year they have a red route , which is the race route. Butt hey also show a second green route .

It seems to be a fast " car " route to the finish , but why is it marked and what purpose does it serve ?

Does anyone know ?

It'll be for the supporting team vehicles to get to the finish quickly.

I think just a bit of laziness from the website/map people who put it together and they've used a one map fits all. Most other races remove the green/team vehicle route one from their public website.

Although it could be useful for spectators (what spectators?) if they want to see the race in two places

It's the secret short cuts for the Spanish teams. You're not meant to have seen that.
