  • Sunshine, light winds, three no marks up the road....it's going to be a bunch sprint.

What sprinters are there left? Who will control the race? I can only think of Leaky as despite not being an out and out sprinter Sagan must be one of the stage favourites. Could he pick up the points jersey by the end of the race?

A sprinters stage at last someone will say. I think its the last one before the last day in Madrid.

There's always Petacchi (at least for my ptp hopes), no point riding stage 15 if you didn't want to win a sprint stage later on, especially after such a dire year in the saddle.

Lampre - Especially now they don't have to babysit Scarponi and can go for the stage win.

Sagan looks like a possible to win this stage, although i have him marked for stage 21, and without the kick up at the end, surely Petacchi could get the better of him?

Sagan could easily take the points jersey if he gives his best, especially with less and less Mountainous terrain to come, possibly taking away from the likes of J-Rod.

    My input for the day.

    In no particular order..........
Petacchi - no doubt looking to make a mark in time for Worlds selection
    Bennati - ditto
    Sagan
    Degenkolb
    Van Avermaet
    JJ Haedo
    Haussler
    Chris Sutton

Surely there will be more than that. Someone must take it upon themselves to have a pop at Sky for not going for bonus seconds!!!

EPIC FAIL by Sky. Didn't go for bonus seconds/wasted energy getting bonus seconds/over geared/under geared/backed wrong leader/wasted 2nd and 3rd on GC.

Please pick one from above in about 3 hours time  nb. tfic

As someone who's served a doping suspension, Petacchi is inelligible for selection for the Worlds under new rules introduced by the Italian Federation.

A lot of them fall into the 'strong rider with decent sprint' category. To be honest I'd forgotten Petacchi was even in the race!
  • Could be interesting at 10km out sprint point

I'd imagine that Geox will be happy to let the break stay away, just to ensure that any bonus seconds are mopped up. They won't want Froome attempting a flyer from 1km out and taking the 20 second bonus at the finish.
  • I am guessing the reason Cancellara has stayed on for todays stage (already announced retiring tonight from race) is to help Bennati though right. I am not sure Geox will have too much choice if the other teams work together. Sky, Garmin, HTC, Liquigas and Leopard could do it without them , without hurting themselves too much.
  • So what's the weather like down there? Blustery and damp, like here, or calm and sunny?

I wasn't sure he'd not retired at the end of last season. I'm not sure he knows...

If it was a bit windier, might be worth Sky joining in. Cobo won't like this.

But it doesn't look windy enough at the moment.

It's a bit downhill, they were going over 70 km/h, but still not breaking it up. Looks like they've given up
  • If only it was as windy there as it is here we'd have some serious racing!
