Stupid Q - Does Wheel Trueness Affect Disc Brake Rotor True?

OK, this should be v simple for someone.
I have a maddenly annoying skimming rotor on my disc brakes, skimming against the pads.
I notice that it is in time with the very small 'wobble' of my rims, a slight buckle...
But surely the trueness of the rim shouldn't affect the rotor? I mean, the rotor is bolted onto the robust hub flange, or even a separate flange on the hub, which should be true, independent of the rim...
Or am I being stupid?
Don't want to go bending the rotor out of shape when I can just true the wheel....
Cheers,

totally independent as you suggest yourself. I assume you've tried refitting the wheel and also centering the caliper??
Probably worth popping the brake disk off and checking it for trueness - this is where your finest glass coffee table is handy!! Try refitting it after rotating it on the hub also.
Good luck sorting it0 -
Is it just rubbing on part of the rotation? If so easy enough to bend them with pliers/adjustable spanner etc, just do it a bit at a time. If rubbing all/most of the way around then either recentre the callipers or if at the limit already then user washers0
