Hello All,

I have a 2005 Orbea Onix Carbon frame I was building up for my winter training bike. While checking the operation of the front mech the cable guide became detached from the frame. The guide is aluminium abd rivetted onto the frame. One of the rivets has sheared off and the other appears to have pulled straight out of the frame.

Can the guide be replaced? If so, how? Help please would hate to scrap it.

Thanks in advance,

Roswaldo

Is it possible to replace the rivets with some short bolt/nut or screw nut... inside the BB shell you should have plenty of room for a small nut... you can even get rid of the plastic tube that connects the two BB cups if it's in the way... a bit more crap will access the cups and you'll have to keep the maintenance up... but other than that, it's not essential

My Plug has a jubilee clip style cable guide for the rear brake (I presume you mean the little thing that is normally brazed onto the frame, ferrule sits in it, cable runs in and out of the other side).

You fit the jubilee style clip wherever you want, do it up, et le voila - instant cable guide. Means that it takes two seconds to take the brake off when you go fixed and leaves the frame with really nice clean looking lines.

Something like this perchance? I'm sure that they are not a bespoke Plug item and probably available on the 'net.

Top bloke Darren re-bonded and rivetted the wayward cable guide. While the glue was curing I got a tour of the workshop and a look at some of the repairs in there. It's amazing what can be fixed.

    Would totally recommend their services.
