Campag Ergo locking up
My left shifter is starting to lock when changing up onto the big ring. It allows me to change down to either of the two smaller rings but when I try and change up the sweep lever just won't move. Worryingly I had this on another bike halfway round a sportive, lost patience and snapped the lever - bye bye ride - hello broom wagon. Any ideas how to resolve?

Wrong tension... it might be that when you are in the middle ring, you have actually shifted to the big ring, but the tension is too low for the derailleur to get there. Shift to the smollest ring and adjust the cable tension, which is probably too slackleft the forum March 20230

I have this on my RH ergo lever. If you pull the thumb shift lever fully up, can you then change up? This is how it is on mine anyway. Think it must be a spring inside which normally pulls the thumbshift back up.0 -
Thanks ugo.santalucia but the tension is ok - out on a ride this am after climbing Streatley hill I was in the small ring and when I got to the top the lever locked again. Very frustrating! I could move the thumb lever down but didn't try moving it up . . Will try and move the thumb lever up next time it happens and see if this frees it. I did wonder if it was the cable run - I have Nokon cable covers and wonder if that could be the issue?0

Possibly... I've had this, and it was the result of the thumb button not returning fully to the top of it's travel - in my case because it was foulding slightly on the hood rubber, which was moving about slightly. So I used sharp nail scissors and trimmed a bit of the rubber away from the slot for the thumb button, and all is well. You can test this whenit happens by pulling up the thumb button and seeing if this releases the inner lever.0
