Sram Apex with GXP Team Cups

My Apex crankset has no side play when used with an Apex BB , but when I try using the Team Cups, no matter how many times I grease it, take it off, put it back on, it still has some side play in it. I wondered if you have to use an Apex BB with an Apex crank.

I also tried a spacer supplied but this made it too tight.

Anyone got this to work ?

    SRAM website indicates that all GXP BBs are interchangeable so without getting the verniers out, difficult to know where to start. Obviously as slim spacer behind the cup will help, but might be tricky finding one -
    Could try the 1mm spacer that comes with Shimano 10 speed cassettes?
    Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
