Cross Tyres

Can anybody recommend cross tyres that are fast rolling on the road but can cope with off road as well. I've got 2 events next month which are a mix of both on and off road plus a week on Irish bog roads and the only tyres I've got are Michelin muds.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Conti cyclocross speed or cyclocross race? Diamond file cut centre with knobblies on the shouldersNeil

your going to struggle to get a trye that can do both well. I run Kenda 8 blocks which are pretty good all round on and off the road, but I reckon they would not be much use in real muddy conditions. If you can why not pick up some tyres off ebay, then for the price you can get off road and on road set, for the price of one set new. My choice would be Gator skins, and Panaracer Cinders.0

I've been recommended these as fast rolling for early/drier cross races http://www.gabbydaycyclesport.com/site/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=422&category_id=9&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=1 no idea how good they would be on the road.0

Cheers guys, the Conti speed might do the job.0

I use the tubular version of Vittoria XN http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/sp/road-track-bike/Cross-XN-Pro-Folding-Tyre/VITTTYRF125?utm_campaign=Googlebase&utm_medium=organic&utm_source=Googlebase
They are a fairly good compromise as I can maintain speed on the road quite well, with decent off road grip, so long as it's not too muddy.0 -
Depends on whether you want to compromise speed on the road or grip offroad. A knobbly cross tyre will lose you about 2kph on the road whereas a semi-slick can be surprisingly effective offroad, particularly if it has decent side-knobs and it's not really muddy.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

I looked at the Vittoria XN. They get good reviews but apparently can wear quickly on the road. Might be useful for early races if the weather holds out. One of the big things in their favour is they come in a 32. Wifey has to have whatever I've got and her bike has quite close clearances.
Monty, I think the thing to do is put a computer on the crosser and see how muck speed I lose compared to the road bike.0
